Hello everyone, I'm Bella! I love to cook, bake, write, take photos, and drink coffee. I have a deep love for all things chocolate and all things butter. I have a very "mise en place" personality, as you soon will learn. Everything I do in the kitchen (and out of the kitchen for that matter) Is done very meticulously and I take great care to attention and detail. 

Here is a little bit about me: I'm twenty-one and currently live in Utah. In my free time you can almost always find me in the kitchen or watching Seinfeld... or both at the same time. But when I'm not in the kitchen, you can find me watching movies, watching quirky TV shows (Twin Peaks!!!), enjoying classical music at the concert hall, spending time with family and friends, going to the gym, drinking coffee, drinking more coffee... I currently work a full time government job so A Common Kitchen has been the main focus of my spare time as of late. 

I am constantly baking treats and making food for Jacob (my wonderful husband) and myself. We both have an extreme sweet-tooth so A Common Kitchen is my newest excuse for making baked goods every week. I am very adventurous when it comes to food. I will try *most* things (seafood is a yuck for me) and I love all types of cuisine. I can have a bacon cheeseburger, boeuf bourguignon, or a hot bowl of phở all in the same week and enjoy them all the same. I have been in the kitchen as soon as I was old enough to reach the tops of the counters and I haven't grown tired of it yet, nor do I believe I ever will. I have always put my own spin on classic recipes but I also enjoy developing and creating my own recipes as well. It was only a natural extension  to create a food blog to categorize and share my recipes with you.

Why "A Common Kitchen"? The name has a double meaning. The first is that I am a common lady in a common little kitchen. And by "common" I mean that I don't have any special culinary training. Aside from two cooking classes I took in junior high, I am completely self-taught and I am extremely proud of that. I, and many others around me, have watched me learn and improve immensely. I do not believe that you need a special education or fancy equipment to make beautiful and delicious food. I strongly believe that the art of cooking and baking is a passion that can be felt deeply and expressed in many ways. Secondly, food and cooking have always helped people to connect and spend more time together. If you think about it, there really isn't one common "interest" that every single human being on the planet shares. However, everyone single person has to eat. Thus the "interest" to stay alive by means of consuming food was created! And I believe that no matter what difference of interests or beliefs one has, you can always connect through food.
